Hi Ernest,
as you certainly know, I am selling the 2-stroke oil adapter for the oil metering pump. Developing this adapter I did investigate and test the pump. My finding was that it is a pump designed much like a mechanical Diesel injection pump, meaning it can produce pressure, but has absolutely no suction capability. As a result, I am asking the user in the installation guide to place the oil reservoir a minimum of 6" above the pump. There has never been a report of problems feeding the pump.
FWIW.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Oil metering pump
Is the oil metering pump a pump? Or just a metering mechanism? I took it completely apart, and I don't see any obvious pumping mechanism. I'm looking to provide an alternate source to feed the pump. Do I have to insure there is a head feeding into the pump, or will it be able to suck 2-cycle oil?
