I agree sir on the "you get out what you put in" concept.. The shapes you have come up with look quite functional. The idea of making it modular to ease any versions that might be needed later is a good idea too. I guess my concerns are how do you calculate the actual 'breathability' of the radiator ? You could install one that flows air too fast through it and doesn't transfer heat into that airstream. Or you could install one with such tight fin placement that it dams up the incoming air and even with great pressure drop through a theoretical housing it won't cool properly.  Either of those two scenerios will have you modifying a possible great cooling housing to mask a 'less then perfect' cooler.  I am guessing trail and error will might be just as fast at getting to the sweet spot as spending a bunch of time drawing it out on a monitor screen. I look forward to see your ongoing design evolve as this is the "education" part of homebuilding.

Ben,

This is a Long-EZ Hybrid so, yes the cruise speeds will be much higher than the Cessna style high wing designs.

As far as the amount of effort involved ……… I would have to say that you get out of it what you put into it.

I started with this:

….. and now I’m here:

My original post was to share a tool that I constructed to convert a graphics file to a CAD drawing to allow it to be manipulated. Once I have a final version of it, I’ll add it to my website for download (for those interested.)
