While I hate the noise and ultimately will
need to do something about it, after 15 years of building I'm ready to fly for
a while. I'll leave the experimentation to somebody else.
I was willing to give the DNA a try because
it was relatively inexpensive and being off the shelf, relatively easy. It was
also ineffective. Now if you or somebody else builds your design and proves it
works I'd be willing to give it a try, but I dont want to invest my time to
fabricate another failure.
I'd give Al's tangential a try if I could
figure out how to make it fit.

I have net Ian Beadle in Perth, I think his
airstrip is slightly NW of Perth, but didn't get out to the airstrip to see
the plane.
With all the experimentation on exhausts I'm
wondering why people don't try the exhaust that Bill Jepson and myself
designed - I have put it up here a number of times.
Does it appear too difficult !?

You just need to fly at Mach 1 so you stay ahead
of the sound. ;-)
Can anyone report on the effectiveness of the
tangential muffler in actual real world situations? (As I recall Al
G. is running a tangential muffler on his Velocity.) I ask because
I'm in the process of building one for my Lancair with the hopes that it
will work better than the DNA muffler that I'm currently running. I
think it will work better at reducing the noise level in the cabin, but at
what cost to power? Hopefully, this will save me the cost of a new
Zulu ANR headset. Comments
