Nope, still chasing gremlins. I am having an issue with the secondary injectors causing the engine to quite when I hit about 20 inches Manifold pressure/4000 rpm. If I turn the secondaries off, the power soars back and will get me in the high 5000 rpm and low 6000's rpm static. This is not a mere "bog". I have been reading the archives to get some direction. However, most of the comments are on bog, not it running so badly it wants to shutdown. I did not have too much time to check, but I think the staging point seems to have moved to about 20 inches...the same place as this rough patch on the secondaries (asterisk disappears at this point). Seems like it is flooding with fuel...donno. I have all the same size injectors now. The ones that Mistral recommends for their intake, which I am using.
It was working fine a couple of weeks ago....as I reported. Donno what happened. I may reset since I have not done any tuning and a couple of map settings seemed to have changed. It was running PERFECT on the default settings when I first installed it when I got the EC2/EM2 back from Tracy a few weeks back. Again don't know why. I did find a problem with one of my two B&C regulators. It has been repaired and according to the phone call I got today, is on its way back to me. Not likely directly related, but until I get that solved everything else is suspect.
I also gotta do some other pesky chores like set the wing/canard incidences, properly secure wire runs, get some longer bolts to properly secure my alternators with castle nuts etc. I have a VERY short list (about 8 items) that I copied on a yellow note pad of items I pulled from the manual. Things like fit wheel pants, apply blue locktite to door pins (as to not have them unscrew in the closed position trapping you in plane),
Have everything else in the manual completed (OMG, I really do. WOW....like John Slade has said, if the me of six years ago could see the me of today, he would be damn impressed <g>). Also, I need to wire my panel. I have been keeping the avionics (Dual King 125, Dynon D100 etc stored until I get the electrical stuff sorted out. However, that may only take a bit o' time to at least get it set enough to fly VFR day....all I am currently rated at. Kinda scary though that if'n I ever get the engine to behave properly/consistently/reliably, I am pretty damn close <yikes>
I reconnected the control surfaces the other day so when I make airplane noises, I can have my controls move too.......yeah, responsible, mature, cop, attorney, airplane builder, armature engineer and pilot.....can't cha tell?????
All the best,
Chris

So, when is the big day (maiden flight). Do you have a date set with the DAR yet?

Nah. Just envious of all the places you can land that I would be foolish to even try. Of course, I actually have to fly before I can land <g>....kinda works that way.

Ha Ha...yeah, I know sqeeeeeeezing in a mere 9002 feet can be a challenge. Got look out for the arrester cables for the Navy jets....and, be careful if the Shuttle is up as I believe it is one of the many alt landing strips. You ought to think about it in a canard and not a "easy-land" RV <g>

Well, I don't know Chris, I'm a little leary of landing on such short runways. I would have to practice up on my short field technique first. Besides, rumor has it that there are a bunch of little gremlins lurking around EFD waiting to pounce on anything that comes within 100 yards of your hangar. ;0)
Seriously, send me your phone number and I'll give you a call one weekend when I'm in need of somewhere to go.

Well dang it Mark....Houston is not that far a hop then, now is it??????? <g> Ellington Field (EFD) is a great little-big airport despite the fact it is run by the city. Have Astronauts tooling around routinely....that is if helping a fellow rotor-head with a fresh set of eyes is not enough ;-)
All the best,

Kelly, I guess it is just you and me at the moment. I have been flying my 3-rotor Lancair pretty much every chance I get. It is showing 139.7 hrs on the Hobbs. I've been as far north as Denver, and two weeks ago flew it down to Port Aransas, TX. Cooling could use some improvement in order to keep flying during the hot Texas summers. But I'm working on that. Stay tuned... Mark
