BTW,
I noticed that they make biodegradable plastic out of corn starch as well as other starches. If anyone has some chemistry knowledge on what the salt does to the starch, in this type of recipe, please fell free to tell us all about it.
I suspect a catalyst for the bonding agent.
Just curious!

I sent an e-mail for more information on this product, getting some things in Australia is sometimes problematic - however I did find a recipe for something similar using corn starch i.e.
1 cup of corn starch
2 cups of salt
1& 1/3 cups of water.
Put salt and 2/3 cup of water in a pan and bring to the boil.
Separately mix cornstarch with 2/3 cup of water, and mix well.
Blend the mixtures together (heat as you mix) - kneed into a clay .
Clay can be air dried and can be stored in the fridge in an air tight container.
(I suspect that a pourable mix might be just extra water.)
If anyone wants to try this like Ben for instance, please give some feed-back.

Thanks Ed-George (down under)
George, go to the Google search engine and type in the following:
corn starch for mold cores
There are a number of hits discussing the use of corn starch in
casting - some may be what you are looking for

Ben,
I did some searching myself, but couldn't find what I was after - if
you find it let me know and I will put it in my notes.

George,
I had not seen that, but sounds like a good idea. I will do a little
research on the subject to see what I can find. Won't have much time
to look until next week. Heading up to OSH this weekend for a
volunteer weekend. Not a good time to leave work, but I signed up,
and the heck with
the customers for a few days. ;)
Best...
Ben
