Jeff, there are two ports on the rear iron.  Not sure which one you are
talking about.  One is on the side (5/8" heater port which should be blocked
) and a smaller one on the top which should go to your coolant expansion
tank through a small diameter hose.  This is the primary point where the
block purges air.  If you have this one blocked off, your coolant system is
not configured as well as it could be.
