There is a plastic plane out there, designed in the late 70s by one of Burts assistants that's built like an EZ (hand laid up) but looks more like a small, high AR, tapered wing RV.  Design engine was Cont-85.  Used to run in CAFE races at OSH in late 70s, early 80s and always finished in the money - usually beat Dick Rutan's Vari-EZ).  Called Meade Adventure.   
 
Thanks, but I can't see a scratch built fiberglass plane in my future.  Metal- yes, wood- maybe...
