Subject: [FlyRotary] HS Port Barrel Valve Modifications

I did an archive search and couldn't find an answer to my question...in Bruce T's O.H. video it looks like he places putty direactly into the housing vs. into the barrel valve as Tracy mentions in his book.  Is there a reason why we can't eliminate the barrel all together and modify (putty) the end housings directly (as the video seems to show)?  Thanks for the info.

Doug, when I elminated the barrel valve, I simply removed it and used a combination of an epoxy "stick" (which when mixed,  gives you epoxy about the consistency of dough) to fill in most of the end of the cavity and shaped it so as to have good airflow into the port.  I think mixed some JB WELD and covered the dough epoxy and used Lacqure thinner to smooth the surface.  It worked just fine for over 160 hours until I replaced the six port engine with a four port.
