Michael,
Good idea but it's very heavy way to go and expensive, the goal has always been to get a result with a lighter and cheaper unit. Bill Jepson and myself have come up with a design but it's still a bit heavy. I have been discussing exhausts with Francois and have offered the design to Mistral to try to see if it works - but it will always be a bit heavy (1.6mm mostly) - perhaps there's no getting away from that.

I haven't been in a hurry to finish it and it's been at the welders for some considerable time now, however I have taken that time to re-evaluate it. The recent Everett Hatch method put up by PL is a good idea to eliminate the problems associated by pipe to flange welding, but it may have some production issue and may have to be a stamped part.

An open question to the collective knowledge of this group on the subject of exhaust systems.

Has anyone installed an exhaust with a manifold box like the original N/A 13B ?

In other words, what about building a box collector of similar dimensions to the original heavy cast iron unit on the N/A 13B but made out of say .120 thou SS ?

Would this help dampen the exhaust pulses ? Or are we just opening a whole new can of worms by going down that track?

I think it would leave some HP on the table but for someone like myself not seekeing any more than about 160 hp out of my application is it reasonable?
