Subject: [FlyRotary] Intake
manifold
Hi, fellow rotary enthusiasts....I finished
assembling all the parts for my new intake manifold. Ready for welding. The
machinist did an excellent job of making the plate that the TWM throttlebody
attaches to. Here are some pictures. Paul Conner, 13b powered SQ2000 in

Looking good, Paul
You may have already
answered this, but I can't recall - where did you get the cast intake
manifold?
Ed Anderson
Thanks, Ed. I bought the cast intake
manifold from Mazdatrix. It is for a Weber IDA carb. If you look at their
website, under racing products, and Weber IDA carbs, you will find several
similar manifolds....the difference is in the porting (turbo, non-turbo, 4
and 6 ports). I purchased part number 18105, which is for '87-'92 13b 4-port
turbo engines. Cost, I believe was around $250.00. Well worth it to
have something that just bolted right on to the engine. Since it is designed
for cars, the top of the casting where the carb would mount is
slanted. My $6.00 Stanley hacksaw took care of that. Then, the
machinist took a boring bar and slightly opened up the two holes so that my
Burns Stainless Products 6061 aluminum tube bends would fit in quite
nicely. Much lighter weight than other manifolds I have purchased in
the past. I purchased the 4"x12" aluminum tubing bends with the 12 inch
section expanded, so my 45 degree bends just slide right in (somewhat of a
press fit). Nice for fine tuning of the intake by just sliding it in or out
to change the length of the runners, secured with hose and clamps, or
of course you can just weld them together. Hope this helps. Paul
