Ah, So.  Yes, Pat, I agree.   I can certainly see this Label being applied to a "de-certified" aircraft engine of any type - So it would appear (that if I were a naturally cynical and suspicious type - which I'm not, of course) , I could view this as an evil  plan designed to slowly gain acceptance of this "label" among the alternative engine types - and volia! One day it will be award to a Lycoming with the data plate removed and never again will the award have to be made to ... "ugh" a converted "Automobile Engine".

The Doc told me I've got to start taking that Medicine again .  Great seeing you at the Show.  Thanks for the Cap!

Best Regards

Oops, apparently the award is no longer best "Auto Engine" or even best  "Alternative engine" - but "Best-Uncertified-Engine".   Am I being overly suspicious - or is there a hidden message here??  Yeah! you're right - just overly suspicious - OR could this clear the way for awarding it to all of those Lycoming clones????{:>)

It should apply to any “certified” engine that has lost its data plate.

Or any “certified” engine that has not been maintained by an A&P and installed in an experimental.

Offical results of the Sun & Fun judging in the Homebuilt category.  Our own Jason Hutchinson won the best "Alternative Engine" award for his great looking RV-6A powered by (of course) a rotary engine..

Sad to hear that the outstanding aircraft Lancair Legacy registered to Gerard Schkolnik went down 3/4 mile from runway after taking off Sunday causing fatal injury to the pilot.

Fly safely, guys and gals

Ed
