Yes I do. I've known the Mazda lawyer for several years and have had a few
discussions with him about this in the past. How could he possibly recommend
putting a Mazda engine in an airplane, Mazda is his employer and he has to
defend Mazda in court against ridiculous and trivial lawsuits. Even if Mazda
wins it costs them a lot of money to defend the nuisance suits. He told me
of an accident involving a bunch of people riding around in the back of a
pickup that ended up in a suit against Mazda. Obviously something like this
is not Mazda's fault, but you know how the legal system is in this country,
it's not about truth but who has the deepest pockets.
To answer your question, his main point to me was that we should remove
the Mazda name from the engines. That was idea number one in my previous
email, and that is where it came from. I'm not sure how we do that, but that
is their biggest concern.
