Don, Mark pointed out that due to the large size
difference between primary and secondary injectors my suggestion may not have
much merit. In that even if you switch the primary injector connectors to
the secondary injectors, the pulse width designed for flow from a 250 cc/min
injector may result in too much fuel with a 650 cc/min secondary injectors - you
might be able to compensate for this by turning the manual mixture all the way
lean, but this may not work that well for your situation.
I would also check my ignition timing static setting of
approx 31 deg (two rotor) recommended by Tracy. I am not certain, but I
would suspect that if the ignition was too advanced and firing off the charge
too much before Top Dead Center that the rotor would get some back resistance to
is normally direction of rotation. Whether this would cause bucking am not
certain. But, wouldn't hurt to check.
The ECU causes the ignition timing to advance as manifold
pressure goes up so a possibility exists that your increase in manifold pressure
past 20" causes the timing to advance too far. Just speculation on my
part, but if the static timing is set too advanced (its happened to more than
one of us) it can cause problems. In my case (accidentally set the static
to 45 deg advance ouch!), went flying but noticed that if I opened the throttle
the exhaust sound changed to a staccato popping sound. When I got
down and pulled the spark plugs, the center ceramic cone had disappeared on two
and cracked on the other two spark plugs, the electrodes were eroded
severely. So pull a plug or two and check its condition.
Good Luck and hang in there - its worth it in the
end
Ed

Ed,
Didn't have time to try your suggestions with
switches and disconnecting things yet. Will talk with Tracy tomorrow
about Real time mixture display dropping out.
Cary,
Grounded at EC-2 end only. What size
Capacitor was working for the Mega squirt guys? I don't know much about
electronics or engines, but am learning more than I wanted.
Greg,
I'm more than a little nervous, but I am going to
finish this sucker, and when it runs perfectly, get some
dual RV time and then fly mine on a cool, still day!
John,
That's encouraging and what I am looking
for!
