Bill,
I forgot to mention that once I have the Hushpower II installed, you can have the "auger" muffler if you want it. It isn't the quietest on the block, but it is lots quieter than an open header rotary.

Bill,
The body of the Hushpower II Resonator is only 12" long. Cut the inlet down to about 1/2" and it should fit right in there.

Bill,
Yes, the "auger muffler" is still hanging in there after 20 hrs of
ritualistic torture. It looks like it has what it takes to "take a
licking and keep on ticking". The only problem is that it isn't as
quite as I had hoped. So, I have decided to try a Hushpower II
resonator. And it WILL be inside the cowl. I will not hang a
muffler (even a pretty SS one) under the belly of my airplane. If you do
that to your Legacy I will have to rip it off and beat you with it.

Are you
going to hang it under the plane or try and install it inside the cowl?
How is your exhaust insert holding up? Has it blown out yet? I
assume that the largest inlet for the resonator is 2.5… I didn't see
anything larger. I suppose I will have to neck mine down, but that will
add to the length, so I may have to hang it under the plane.

Did
anyone happen to get the part number of Dennis' muffler at Tracy's fly in? I seem to remember that
it was a resonator, not a muffler. I would like to see if I can find one
but have not found anything that looks like the one he has. My exhaust is
3" and his is 2 ½ , so I will either have to find a slightly larger size,
or neck my exhaust down to go through it.
Help
would be appreciated…my engine is LOUD!
Thanks,
