Mark,
I haven't gotten it to start.  Have tried all the various methods to no avail.  Cold start.  Program button etc.  I'll check the gap, but it is fixed and is more than .030.  Mazda has made it dummy proof.  Of course I may be a better dummy!  The gap can be increased with spacing washers, but not decreased.  Now that you mention it,  I don't know if the plugs are firing when I crank it over.  I just know they are firing when I put it into test mode and they all fire constantly.  (mode 8)   I'll pull a couple of plugs, and crank it over.  It may be that the test mode bypasses something.  Since I am getting no firing at all, This may be it.
Also, It does sound like it could be stuck in the cold start mode.  Any suggestions on how I test for it and what to do about it? I will test the Cold start switch on the panel for grounding and all the way back to pin 30.   I have set it to the full lean mode and all combinations I can think of and it still floods and won't fire.
Excellent suggestions.  I'm looking forward to starting it in a second or two, after listening to the various lyc and continentals cranking and cranking at the airport this cold morning.
