The list has been a little quiet lately, so I hope
this will liven it up a little. I'm at a loss as to how to get my engine
running, so hopefully you guys will have the correct answer. Or at least move me
in the right direction.
My renesis RV-8 is complete and
I tried starting it 2 weeks ago and all I could get it to do is flood.
First a little background on the installation.
New Renesis, 4 port
automatic from Bruce Turrentine. He does nice work! All Tracy's
stuff with all the new upgrades and I have installed a floscan fuel flow sensor
with the wiring changes between the EM-2 and EC-2. Also have Bob's wiring
harnesses to the EM-2 and EC-2 and the LS-1 coils. I have installed the
primary/secondary injector disable switches and the coil disable. Bob's
harnesses are the way to go! I have gone through and checked all the
wiring with an ohm meter. Even pulled the crank angle sensor, unpotted it
and brought it home where the repair dvd is and it reads the correct
1193 ohms and there is a change when I move metal near it. The crank
pickup wheel can only be mounted one way so than can't be the
problem. I have set everything back to the original settings on the
EM-2. I have run the new injector test (Mode 2) and they click like
mad and I can turn them on and off with the Inj disable switches. I have
pulled the irridium plugs and tested them (mode8) and they fire a bright
blue. Tracy, love the test modes! I have tried all of the ways Tracy
says to start it and all the ways everyone else on the list does it. Still
floods. I am getting very tired of taking the plugs out, cleaning with carb
cleaner and blowing them out and then cranking the engine to purge the
fuel. My neighbors are very good to stand by with extingishers and telling
me to stop when gas dribles out the exhaust.
I have checked my fuel pressure
with a seperate gauge, 34 psi one pump, 37 with 2. Using O2 sensor,
but of course that does'nt kick in until auto-tune. I have the
stock red Renesis injectors in the primary ports and the blue in
the secondary. These injectors are used, but I had them cleaned and
flow checked. Yes I know that the rear rotor, next to the pully is
rotor 1 and of course the leading and trailing plug hole are marked
as are the spark plugs. I have triple checked that the manifold
lines are run and attached from the intake manifold to the EC-2
ports and the one on the EM-2 is left open, as per the
manual. Tracy says that he has set up the EC-2 for the stock Renesis
setup. Yes and I try both A and B controlers. No change.
The only time I could get
the engine to pop, was when it was still partly flooded and I hit
mode 8 to fire the plugs. One pop. This is being done with
a fully charged, new Oddyssy battery. So, I am getting spark,
fuel (lots) and air. No way to check the timing. After 2 weeks of
this, I am at a loss and could use your suggestions.
