I have decided to bite the bullet and install separate alternator contactor
(Solenoid) which is triped by an over voltage sensor ala. Aeroeletric
connection..

->>>I seem to recall in the distant past some
discussion on internal regulators.  There were concerns about runaway
regulators
causing large over voltage.  I do not recall any of these concerns coming
from
actual experience, but my memory is dim on that.  I would like to hear from
anyone with experience with integrated alternator/ regulator systems, and
suggestions as to which units (I'm told Honda has a nice one) might be
suitable.<<<<

Sorry this is a little slow, but this is discussed in "Contact" magazine
#46, pg 3.  If you have no source for this, I can get the info for you.  I
have used the stock Mazda alternator, with the mods described which allow
you to shut it down via an overvoltage circuit.  So far it just
"Hmmmmmmmmsssss........" along nicely.
