Ruptured fuel line is worst than a ruptured brake line fire for sure. I wonder if Bud used the aluminum tubes or fuel hose? After my aluminum brake line rupture, I must confess a lack of enthusiasm for aluminum tubes for much of anything except perhaps static/pitot lines. I know there any many successful installations with aluminum lines (thousands of RVs flying with them) and if installed correctly with regard to chaffing and vibration - but I prefer stainless steel braid lines for fuel and oil (and now brake lines).
Have to hand it to Bud (and his passengers) to still make it to Copperstate and give his presentation after than close call. I think I would have called it a day and gone home.
Fly careful out there, ya' hear

Hi All,
My comment wasn't directly relavent to this list, but the
reason for Bud's crash might be. Per Pat's request, I'm
passing this along.

Yes, but is presently speaking at Copperstate, along with his
daughter (and passenger) Phyllis. They are both in great spirits and
are not letting this horrific accident dampen their spirits.
The investigation is completed and the cause has been found to be a
ruptured fuel line.
Thanks!

Wow, talk about getting back into the saddle quickly! I'm pretty
certain that it was Bud who was giving a presentation on his gear
drive this morning at Copperstate.
