I did the same as Buly.  I also put a large screen over the fuel outlet in the tank.  The purpose of this screen is to keep any large trash, like a leaf maybe from being sucked down and covering the line.  I have major problems elsewhere if leaves are filling up my tank, but the 3" diameter wire mesh strainers are cheap, light, just stuck on with ProSeal so they're easy to install.
