A quick question!
The side inlets in the cast end-housings,
have a reducer ( reduction in inlet size) of approx 2mm ( all round) just
after the opening. This reducer ( reduced area) carries through to the
housing face where it changes to the face shape.
Does this reducer act as a choke of the inlet
charge. I've had advice that it doesn't do anything but wonder why it's
there?

Its just to account for production variations in the
castings. There are no dowel pins to locate the intake manifold. Just the
loose fit on the mounting studs.
So, there will never be a sharp corner sticking out into the
flow from the manifold. An effective fix, but a poor solution power wise.

Thanks Lynn,
As I assumed, it's not a reducer but the opening is made a
little bigger, to accommodate poor fit.
Thanks Again!
