Glad to hear you're finally happy about boost. I REALLY love the climb performance of mine. I don't regret for a second putting it on.

How much boost are you running now?  Are you able to run full throttle, or are you having to limit throttle to limit boost?  I took a look at the wastegate in the S5 turbo, and there's plenty of room to enlarge it.  The problem is that the flapper door can't open more than about 3/16" before it hits the end housing.  If I were going to pursue this further, I'd look into making about a 1/4" spacer to move the end housing away so the flapper door could actually open more.  That would probably help as much as porting the openings.

Are you still going to order from turbonetics?

Yep.  The order is going out today.  Leon pointed out that the cracks are from heating and cooling cycles, which happen far more often in a car than in a plane.  I would suspect that you could use a new stock turbo for a long time in a plane before cracks appear.  The problem is that new stock turbos are more expensive than the Turbonetics model.  Since the Turbonetics unit is far superior for our needs, choosing it is really a no-brainer.

I'll fly tomorrow for sure.... unless its snowing.... hard :-)

Good luck.  I don't have any snow to worry about, but I can't realistically fly during the week.  Our airport is in a small notch of the Navy's training airspace, and I can't exceed 900 ft, or head any direction but South.  Flying low out over the bay just isn't in my ideal flight testing guidelines at the moment :-)   And yes, I could call ATC and enter their airspace, but I can tell you from experience that they will not let me do anything close to what I need to do.  Fortunately, on the weekends and holidays, the Navy airspace is inactive, and once I get the engine proven, sneaking out under their airspace for 10 miles or so won't be any problem.

Cheers,
Rusty
