Ah, for old eye balls, this photo does indeed make the
transformation much more meaningful. I just couldn't see the difference -
perhaps not looking closely enough. But, this photo does show the change
much better.
From what I can see (loaded statement), it does not appear
that the process affected the bearing material - is that your
assessment?
Now is the process would only work for taking carbon off
