I have been using a three-minute electronic timer (home-made) to transfer fuel.  The Facet pump moves about one GPH, so every time I push the button, I get three gallons.  Works great for lateral trim.

Thanks.  I know Tracy has something like this, but I knew someone else did as well.  Do you have some sort of special Facet pump?  Mine, and I think Tracy's, only moves about 1/2 GPM.  I looked for a high flow pump, but ended up with the regular Facet, like you would use for a boost pump with a Lycoming.

As for the fuel pumps, I only run on one except for takeoff and landing.  When I do a run-up, the last thing I do is turn on the second pump and watch for a 2-3 psi increase in fuel pressure.  That tells me it is working.  At 1000 feet agl, I turn off the second pump.  My theory is that by only running it for takeoff and landing, it gets very little wear and the filter will last a very long time.  If the primary pump or filter go south, I have a fresh pump and filter to take the load.

I certainly can't fault that logic, but I still feel better running both.
