Greetings,
I made it out for a few
laps around the field today. I had the lower cowl exit opening
blocked off, so all the air had to exit the cheeks. Happily, I didn't
notice any difference in the temps. Still 180/180. I probably need
to pull the thermostat out to see what the water really wants to do. The
next step will be to start choking off the huge inlet to the radiator/oil
cooler.
One interesting thing that
I noticed was how hot the left side of the fuselage was. There's clearly
more hot air coming out the cheek than before. It's quite likely
that I didn't have enough left rudder during climb since I don't recall
looking at the ball. Naturally, my mind starts to thing of how welcome
this heat will be in the winter. Then I think of how to control it.
Let's see, right rudder heats the left side, and left rudder doesn't :-)
Finally, I adjusted my
relief valve to only allow 5 psi of boost. That means that I can use
full throttle, and 5 psi at the same time finally. The result- zoom
zoom! The RV-8 never pulled like this :-) Boy do I need a VSI (or an
EM-2).
Cheers,
Rusty
PS- Hey Toddzan, me want
more flight test reports :-)
