You probably tried this, but thought I would ask, Buly. Did you put it in mode 1 and hit the store button. That should have the injectors clicking like mad - make certain fuel pumps are off before you do this or you will flood your engine (don't ask how I know). Since you indicated it fire off from residue fuel in the chamber when testing the spark plugs, it sounds to me like you are not getting sufficient fuel.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Frustrating Sunday
This morning I was all primed up to fire my newly updated EC/EM. Pulled the plane out got all set up and hit the primer button:
Silence? Tried starting: Nothing.
Pushed it back in the hangar and started trouble shooting.
Fuel pressure: Yes
Power to all 4 injectors: Yes
Grounded one at the time all 4 wires from the EC2 plug and all 4 injectors did "click"
Checked the injector return lines: they are grounded as they should be.
Called Tracy and he suggested testing Mode 8 spark plugs: worked fine
The EM2 is flashing 0/NOP where the RPM should be?
Since Tracy is leaving for 3 weeks on Tuesday, I'll have time to follow up on ideas from all, incl. Tracy :)
When John Slade was here, we used to swap EC boards to make sure it is not our fault. Now he's gone to CT.
BTW when you are testing the engine ignition in MODE 8 with the spark plugs on the engine, make sure there is no one around the prop. My engine fired momentary two times without the starter being engaged, injectors off and fuel pumps off. Any fuel fumes inside will ignite if you hit the Save button in Mode 8
Finally at 7 PM I felt in a dead end, shut the hangar and headed home. Feel like where I was 2 years ago.
