Did you put it in mode 1 and hit the store button. That should have the injectors clicking like mad - make certain fuel pumps are off before you do this or you will flood your engine (don't ask how I know). Since you indicated it fire off from residue fuel in the chamber when testing the spark plugs, it sounds to me like you are not getting sufficient fuel.
