Mazda says premium 91 oct. I use 87 oct in the airplane and
only *think* I detected detonation once during some advanced ignition
timing tests. Most RX-8 drivers who have tried both always seem to
say that both performance and fuel economy are better on 87. Go
figure. There are some legitimate reasons why this could be
true.
