After all, most folks seem to do well with the original. Question for alternate gear came up for me, as everyone seems to go for heavy Cessna slabs or Custom made Alu-slabs. There should be something lighter - just re-read a Sport Aviaton report on a Smyth Sidewinder. Landing gear is welded up from 4 tappered flat steel pieces (8 for both sides). Supposedly no problem with welding, etc. Fairly light too, but no numbers, as usual in SA...
