Here is a picture of a set of Stinson gear legs. The price is too high in my opinion, but it gives you an idea of the look.
 
The legs are tapered steel tubes with welded on axle tubes. Aircraft spruce sells replacement axle tubes if you need to change anything or repair a leg.
 
The mounting is similar to the Bede. A long bolt or pin for a pivot, but instead of a rubber puck there is a short coil over shock unit.  
 
These gear can deal with high sink rate touchdowns without damage. Very forgiving.
 
I would build a rising rate rocker to operate a coil over shock unit and get the coilover inside the Bede gear box.
