Ah, if I just had the time for all the things I would
like to do, Thomas. Bill Schertz has been after me to instrument my
ducts with pressure sensors for years. There is no doubt data
could possibly help - but even then you have to be careful. Testing a
theory on a poorly implemented test set-up could just as easily lead to a
false wrong conclusion or ... humm, wonder what that means?.
Early on in my life (first year in college physics lab)
I realized that I was not cut out to be a scientist - repeating the same
experiment over and over and writing down page after page of numbers (data)
just did not ring my chimes. At that point, it became clear I was more
suited to engineering - yes, data and testing is also required there - but its
more focused on refining a design than proving a theory. At least
that is my perspective.
I know some folks would rather gather data and analyze
it than build - but, just not my cup of tea {:>)
