This morning I launched my CZ for a 90 miles each way breakfast
flight from Fort Lauderdale Exec to Fort Pierce. Climbed to 6K feet
and leveled off on course. On climb my water temps went to 210 but
later in level flight came down to 160 water and 137 oil. Looks like
my oil thermostat does not work, and I may need a cowl flap on the
cooling intake? The EGT was 1800, so I run rich and used lots of
fuel. Was at my destination after 37 minutes. We used to fly one hour
on a rented C-172. Had breakfast at the Tiki Bar and in another 35
minutes I was back at FXE. Later on the way back got brave and
leaned a lot. it made big difference in the fuel burn. I was flying
at 150K average and 5200 rpm MP 24". My both landings were cross wind
and I did fine, considering that was only 4th or 5th landing on my
own. Liking the plane and the engine more and more and I feel more
relaxed. On return I took the cowling off and everything was just the
same as before the trip for a change :).
The annoying things:
The radio is as noisy as ever. Even the hand held was affected. This
evening Installed a large capacitor on the alternator and hope that
fixes it?
My EM2 red light blinks all the time, even if there is nothing on the
screen that flashes? I wander if it is the fuel computer that shows
zero fuel remaining??
I never bothered to set it to full.
Looks like I'm seeing some light at the end of this long tunnel? PP
engine is next on my list (after the data logger) and I have started
collecting the parts for it. Looking for a rear 20B or Cosmo 13B side
housing to fit my bellhousing and starter.
That's all i can remember without a data logger :)
Buly
Buly,
I believe all the endhousings will fit your bellhousing - it's just got an extra bolt hole at the top. I think that was to take the additional load of the 20B.
BTW very nice set-up!
