I originally purchased my built long block Renesis from Bruce Turrentine for my Cozy MKIV. I sold the project but kept the engine and am now building an RV-10. The RV-10 was tested with the Continental IO-360 @220 hp with satisfactory results according to Vans. I am torn between going with the Renesis to power the RV or just selling it and putting in the Lycoming 0-540 @250 hp Vans recommends. Bruce estimates my Renesis will produce 225 hp @ 6500. I know the Renesis performs well in Tracy's RV,,,,I just don't want to spend all the time and money into building and installing the Renesis and having to pull it out to replace it with the 0-540. Comments???? _http://www.rotaryextreme.com/rx8dyno.html_ (http://www.rotaryextreme.com/rx8dyno.html) This is a sample of RX-8 on a chassis dyno. Add 10% for driveline and traction losses. My racing 12As have 173.3 HP at 6,500 RPM on an engine dyno. Subtract 10% to compare to the RX-8. The 13B size would give you a bit more. Check the weights between the 540 and the Continental 550. The mount difference would be a big problem if you are not a fabricator but the difference between the 470 and a 550 in a Bonanza is astounding. Cruise is at the bottom of the airframe red line. A three bladed prop is required. I may get yelled at, but in this case, I would find a runout 540 and rebuild it myself. Or, a turbo 20B (three rotor) would be amazing. Easy 300+ HP. The RX-8 has a 6 speed trans because it needs one. Lynn E. Hanover -------------------------------1170446561 Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
