David,
As far as I know I am the only person planning a
Renesis for the RV10. I am installing an Eaton M62 4th gen Supercharger with the
anticipation of running 1 pound of boost. This should give normalization to
8000ft with a large pulley installed on the SS to slow it down and limit air
temps. My decision to use the Renesis vs a 20B came down to wanting a new engine
and the desire for the calmer \ cooler exhaust. My decision has added at
least one year plus to the project over using a Lyc. Lots of
firsts with the project. First rotary RV10 engine mount which was moved forward
8 inches in error and needs to be reworked to move the engine back to 5
inches forward. Do not know if Fred is still making mounts so the
mount could be a challenge. First rotary RV10 cowl which will be
available for purchase this spring from the same company that builds the F1
Rocket cowls. The cowl will offer options for the inlet placements and types. I
am using two side NACA's and a James Cowl type inlet will be available. The cowl
was designed for engine placement from 4-8 inches forward of standard Lyc
install. First SS etc, etc.
I do hope to be in the air by the end of this year but I
still have lots to things left to do. You can contact me offline if you
wish.

This is a question that could probably best be
answered by Tracy but all comments would be appreciated. I originally purchased
my built long block Renesis from Bruce Turrentine for my Cozy
MKIV. I sold the project but kept the engine and am now
building an RV-10. The RV-10 was tested with the Continental IO-360 @220
hp with satisfactory results according to Vans. I am torn between going
with the Renesis to power the RV or just selling it and putting in the
Lycoming 0-540 @250 hp Vans recommends. Bruce estimates my
Renesis will produce 225 hp @ 6500. I know the Renesis performs well in
Tracy's RV,,,,I just don't want to spend all the time and money into building
and installing the Renesis and having to pull it out to replace it with the
0-540. Comments????
