Hi, Rusty.....I have to agree with Mike
Callahan on this one.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comments. I clearly have a lot of
research to do.
As for intakes, it looks like tomorrow's the big day
for you. I never heard anything from Mazdatrix, other than noticing that
they billed my credit card. When I talked to them on the phone, it sounded
like they had a number of these coming in, rather than just the one for your
order, so I was hoping mine would be shipped out as well. Did they
send you the tracking number automatically, or did you have to call them to find
out it was coming? Heck, maybe mine will arrive tomorrow
too.
After looking at the turbo some more, it looks like
I'll run into a couple other problems if I try to remove the spacers
between the turbo and manifold. The oil return (big steel line) will hit
part of the engine mount, and the intake air will start to interfere with the
same mount tube. If anything, it needs to move out just a bit
more. I'll be happy with the spacer, if I can make one out of SS, and make
it the full thickness (about 1-1/4") rather than having 3 smaller spacers and
gaskets like I do now. This would be an ideal use for some
machine tools, but perhaps not the 3 in one
machine. Fortunately, the current spacers are working fine (thanks
again Leon), so there's no hurry to change them.
If I'm content to keep the turbo spacer, then I could
probably use the manifold I have, just as easily as the one I ordered from
Mazdatrix. If you decide that you're not going to use the wrapover
manifold that you have, let me know, because I might be interested in buying it
from you. It will depend on which intake looks better for
modification. BTW, I never heard back from PL, so I guess he either
doesn't have any more of his intake castings, or I'm not on the preferred
customer list :-)
Cheers,
Rusty
