Thomas; Side note on welding with antique
equipment. My unit is a Century with a DC converter and a high frequency
exciter. If you are in the market for a TIG, a word of caution, the old
crazy wave units can raise havoc with all the electronics nearby. The
first time I started an arc the garage door started going up and down and would
not stop until I cut the power, had to replace it. Same with the mobile
telephone, it took the ZAP and starting ringing, which lasted until I pulled the
battery. So if a used welder is not of the latest technology, pass.
When you figure what you pay and the price of all that can go wrong, might
better start with new. Good thing the computer in the garage wasn't on at
the time. JohnD
