Todd - several years ago a group of RVs flew up
to salmon arm, BC for their airshow. when i arrived a guy on an ATV guided
me to the parking area. he had a broken leg and his crutch was
strapped to his vehicle. he passed us off to another who was directing us
where to park. this guy had no fingers on one hand. "damn, these
canadians are tough!". i later learned, over beers of course, that he had
spent several days at -40 degrees in a cessna that went down in whiteout
conditions waiting for rescue. he froze his fingers off in the
ordeal. so after hearing your story i hope you don't mind, but the
stereotype and remark still holds.
