Did you have the machine set to AC and
high freq continuous? I was having a really tough time one day until I figured
out that the machine was still on DC. It just won't work that way. Also, make
sure the tungsten isn't contaminated, and if there is black smoky looking
stuff on the weld, that's oxide. It melts at about 5K degreesF, so that will
also cause your part to melt. If you have the machine set right, and the
proper size tungsten, and enough gas (need more in drafty conditions) ,
aluminum is easy to TIG. Sounds like a machine setup problem to me. Mike
