Wendell,
During the construction of my turtleback and fuel tank I used a combination of West Systems for some parts and Aeropoxy for others.
If it is any consolation the West Systems seems to be holding up better than the Aeropoxy so far.
This fuel tank has had auto fuel in it for over 5 years.
It is just recently, since the use of ethanol that I have noticed the changes in its integrity.
Be sure that any sealer that you use is rated for auto fuel with alcohol.
The Pro-seal that all the RV guys are using on their aluminum tanks will not even hold up to auto fuel with ethanol.
Personally I don't like the idea of a sealer because if/when it starts to deteriorate and gets ingested into the system it will cause the same problem that I am having right now but maybe even worse.

Please be careful about making blanket statements. Pro-seal is a brand name. There are many different versions of sealants, even within the same brand. The sealant I got with my RV kit was a different brand & is alcohol safe. I'm sure that Pro-seal makes an alcohol safe version, also.

I'm bringing this up because misinformation can cause major inconvenience, & in some cases danger to life & limb. On a couple of other lists I follow, guys are talking about using 'proseal' as an adhesive because it sticks well & others have used it as an  adhesive. Problem is, those same companies also make real adhesives that look & are handled in the same manner as their sealants. The data sheets for the sealants specifically warn against using them as adhesives. See the danger?
