I use the pumps that Tracy sells set up in parallel.  I had one fail after about 150 hrs.  The failure mode was very soft.  It just stated making lower output.  Since the pressure is set by the regulator, I only noticed that the pump was failing because the normal fuel flow started dropping off dramatically over the course of a few hours.  Normal pump output at 35psi is about 40 gal/hr.  With both pumps on the flow is 80 gal/hr.  When the pump died flow fell off to about 20 gal/hr without a drop in pressure.

It was nice to know about the failure early.  But to do that you will need a fuel flow gauge somewhere in the system.
