Plugging Bypass Hole
Hey, when your aging brain gets to this stage - you take
whatever it gives you {:>). Good luck on your inspection! Ready
for you to get this out of your system and come back to the dark
side.
Heading to Louisiana this weekend. Checking out
the lead removal solution that I finally got to use (flying again!).
This trip will give me over 16 hours using the stuff, so will likely pull a
plug when I get back to see its condition.

Pump: Plugging Bypass Hole
I used a NPT tap - it was either 3/8 or 1/2" dia (its
been over a decade).
I simply tapped it for a threaded aluminum hex nut
plug of that diameter and
screwed it in tightly and its still there after
over 10 year of running.
Not bad Ed.
I'll give you full credit in consideration for your aging brain
:-)
BTW, a good log and
search engine makes up for that. Imagine how I know this :-)
From my
log:
Tapped
the bypass hole in the water pump housing with a ½” NPT tap. This worked pretty darned well. Installed an aluminum ½” pipe plug,
with just a bit of high temp RTV on the threads.

11th, first flight maybe the 12th)
