With the battery disconnected and the ignition=20 switch off I had the driver select 4th gear and release the clutch while=20 holding the brakes. The engine stopped, never to turn over again. The distr= ibutors=20 and front cover were fine. The rest was scrap metal. =20 =20 Oil brand not a factor. =20 =20 Not to long ago, maybe 7 years, we bought two real racing engines from the =20 top builder for our kind of racing. One complete for $14,000.00 and an=20 identical short engine for $7,000.00. I installed the complete engine and went to Mid Ohio. Lost the front rotor =20 bearing housing and front iron (broke the bridge) in the first practice sess= ion=20 at about 7,000 RPM, right in front of me. Not even on the power, just=20 warming it up. The following week at Gingerman we lost the backup engine in= the=20 first qualifying session. Lost the rear rotor, housing, and rear iron (brok= e the=20 bridge). =20 Mazda had changed suppliers for bearings and not said anything about it. Th= e=20 new bearings were junk.
