Here is what I found with regard to
alternators. The Geo Metro and Isuzu Sidekick alternator is a little
lighter, but I didn't have a scale. It does fit the bracket on the engine,
but the bolt is much smaller diameter (close to 1/4 inch). It is also only
55 AMPs.
I opted for the stock Mazda alternator. It
weighs slightly more, but puts out 70 AMPs, and the bolt is the right
size.
