Bill,
The idea of the bypass valve is that it can release
pressure when the engine is cold and the oil is thick. This is for those guys
who would rev the engine hard after starting.
The 12 A's don't have this feature and it isn't
need if you don't rev the engine when it's cold. So a complete cut off is OK. As
a matter of fact complete cut off is achieved when the engine is hot- same as
the 12A engine.
The jets in the e-shaft can be replaced with a plug
with a hole approx 2mm or .08" - so 5/64" is good!
