Dale/Joe,
There are 4 seat Visions being
built.
A Rotary will be great in a 4 seat,
I'm trying to complete a single rotar for my 2 seat.

Well,
Joe did say "canard", so that *could* include the Long-EZ and
Vari-EZ.
Those, and the original COZY are the only canards to which the
Vision can reasonably compare itself. Flying a Vision is the same
good-news/bad-news situation as riding a motorcycle.
The bad
news? It can only carry two people.
The good news? It can
only carry two people.

One could go for something in-between
these two ( Canard and Van's) and build way cheaper with a Composite
Vision (very similar looking to a Van's) and is Plans built.
Simple construction, and parts like fuselage
spar wing skins etc. can be purchased, which would of course cost more than
doing it yourself.
Vision plans sold to date, over
325.

I
chose the canard for build cost, build noise, and forgiving flying
qualities. The cost advantage was plans vs kit cost, and my entire bird
cost less than the Vans basic kit. Your Velocity kit may not have
that advantage.
I was living in an apartment where I built in a
spare bedroom, so riviting was not a welcome idea. The epoxy was not a
problem, and finishing was not a big deal.
I was not a pilot
yet, and past 50 yrs old, so I need a forgiving bird, and am very happy
with the canard.
I hope that you will rethink the RG
option. That fixed gear is so wonderful.
