I think that I'm right at the 40 hours, or maybe a couple of tenths shy. The bad news is that I had trouble with the reduction drive, and after putting it back together, had another issue, so I don't have any trips to SC or flight s planned for the next couple of weeks. The plane is still in SC, and I want to put a few more hours after putting it back together, before making the 1.5 to 2 hours flight up to NC. As far as the house goes, we got our final inspection on Monday, and proceeded to move everything in. We are in, but as you can imagine, a lot of stuff still boxed. Most of my plane parts are still in storage. I think I'm going to have to build a detached garage/workshop to put all of the tools, parts, toys, and etc. in. I wouldn't worry too much about 200 degree oil temps while running at full throttle. I see that on a regular basis on climb out after take off. In the early days, I saw 240 a few times, but it didn't seem to cause any damage. Perhaps 240 for long periods might be a different story, but 200 seems to be within the normal range. I'd like to know what the RX-7 oil temps run on a 90+ day sitting in traffic. Probably would scare you. As far as your speeds, they don't sound bad with the gear down. I still haven't put wheel pants on the mains, and I've been watching how much I push the stock turbo. The fastest I've seen so far was about 150 kts with the gear up, and at about 5000 RPMs showing about 2-3 lbs of boost. That was also at about 2000 AGL, and the A/S indicator tracks pretty close with the GPS. Your flight plan sounds good so far, but you may want to explore some slower flight before too long. Yep, I was waiting for Buly to get his first flight in before I did mine - you know "age before beauty" (or was that "pearls before swine")! How's the 40 hours and your house (since I know they are connected!)? Did you get your plane moved? I did my second flight today - 1.3 hours with lots of turns from gradual 10 degree to 60 degrees. I also ran the engine hard - full throttle - for about 30 minutes in mostly straight and level flight - but with the gear down still. I was getting 140kts at 5300RPM - but that's all I could get. The oil temps were also hitting 200 degrees - so I backed off and let things cool down to 180. The next flight I'm slated to put the gear up and we'll try it again and see what kind of RPM/speed I get. I'm not looking to test the upper end of the speed yet - just want to know I can get to 150kts for now.
