Bill,

I purchased two of these. They are in the 5-6# range. They turn on at 1250 rpms and reach max output around 5-6k if I remember correctly. They are a replacement for the GEO / Suzuki alternators. I have know idea of the quality. I did have two large pulley machined to match main pulleys rpms in hopes it would slow these down enough to extend their life.

I need a small 60A alternator for my rotary.  Does anyone have a lester number or know the year/model of a suitable alternator?  I perfer Mitsubishi but ND would be OK.  I will want to modify it for external field shutdown, but would perfer to use the internal regulator.  I have little room under my cowl, so it needs to be 4 to 4.5 inches in diameter, weigh about 7 lbs.

Hi Bill,

It's only 55 amps, but you might look at the Ultra Mini #2026 at- http://www.ecae.com/alt1.html

I've used two of these, and you can indeed turn them on and off via the control wire.  I'm not sure it's exactly a field wire, but probably more like an input to the internal regulator.

Van's includes an internally regulated 60A alternator in their FWF kit, and I believe it has the ability to be turned on and off as well.  My kit is coming next Tuesday, so I'll know more about it when it arrives.

Cheers,
Rusty
