Do you have a photo of that donut type damper - is it similar to the BMW type? 
Have a look on the internet for Lord Dynaflex Couplings, that's what Don Dunbar is using and sounds like it is ideal for the single rotor, I prefer Tracy's set-up for the 2 rotor.

 yes, it is the same in principle as on a BMW. In Europe it is a GIUBO from Italy.

Thanks for that feed-back, I hadn't considered moving the dampening closer to the centre, this in fact makes it easier for design and manufacture.
 
I've seen and handled the BMW coupling, I found it quite heavy and overly bulky. Where as the Lord Dynaflex Model LCR -400-800-115A are similar in construction, less bulky and weigh less and cost about $40 ea Aust or about $30 US ( cheap).
