I have decided to look at manufacturing straight cut gears and planet = gears with caged needle bearings to cope better with the RPM - those = little planet bearings zing along! Hoping to target the magic 300 hp = figure. However for your requirement on the single the Ford units are more = than adequate. Still working on sizes if gears and tooth sizes. I have made some good = contacts and am now developing some expertise on gears, materials, shot = peening and grinding - with help from some friends I might add!! No names mentioned in case they don't want to be identified!! I had though to follow Tracy's damper arrangement - might need = something denser ? I have this feeling that because there are severe = torque reversals, ( terminology?), in the single, soft materials may = exacerbate these reversals - however I'm guessing.
