I used to run 87 octane with extra dino oil mixed to reduce the octane.
Detonation in a NA motor is hard to do, and so long as the engine is not lugged,
below 3,000 RPM, we use (7,000 to 9,000 RPM) there is little to no
detectable wear and bit of extra power. Now with store bought race engines
we run
97 octane pump gas with one oz of redline synthetic 2 cycle oil per gallon.
