Re: [FlyRotary] My, it's a heavy
starter
I use a Subaru starter on my cog
belt redrive and I will on on my Dodge redrive, its much lighter and
parts are readily available where as the Mazda parts are harder to
find, back when I was running the Ross redrive I went to the Mazda
dealer to get some brushes and they wanted $180 for them, like get
real so I made my own from brushes from the hardware
store.
I looked into converting my Ross
over to a Subaru starter and thought it was possible but it blue
chunks before I converted it over.
the tooth mesh is the same so all
you have to do is reposition the starter.

I have the PSRU all mounted up and it
looks mighty spiffy.
I got out the starter and I noticed how heavy it is. Has anyone
attempted to lighten it up?
Also, I'd like to go though the starter because it is used, not new.
Any good sources for a rebuilding kit, or brushes, bearings, etc?
